Jamésa Alexander is the founder of Jayne Heir, a DC-based wedding and event planning business that plans events across the United States and Europe. In 2024, they were named one of the “Best Wedding Planners and Designers” by The Loverly List. To celebrate National Wedding Planning Day, which officially falls on March 1st, Jamésa shared with us her 2025 wedding trend predictions, her tips for planning a more inclusive wedding, what she’d like to see change in the industry moving forward, and more.
Tell us more about how and why you got into the wedding planning industry.
Ironically enough, I started in this industry in a very unconventional way. I began planning as a favor for a friend. After a successful wedding, I decided to continue my creative journey and launched my wedding planning firm in 2014.

Founded in 2014, we are celebrating our 11th year of business.
What sets you apart from other wedding planners?
The art of storytelling. We are known for our intentional and creative design process that immerses guests into the art of storytelling. Jayne Heir Experience is known for its luxury wedding and event planning, specializing in high-end, detail-oriented, and stylish celebrations. The brand is recognized for curating elegant, sophisticated, and seamlessly executed events with a personalized touch.
Can you recall a particularly rewarding or memorable moment in your career?
Yes, one of the most rewarding and memorable moments of my career was being able to transition into my business full-time.
What are some of the biggest trends you’re seeing for 2025 weddings?
Some of the biggest trends we are seeing is the use of special effects such as virtual holograms and 3D interactive elements. Another big trend is the use of an event meteorologist to assist in the planning process for outdoor events. The use of weather tracking technology in events is becoming big as well.
Do you have any advice or tips for planning a more inclusive wedding?
The guest list is the first aspect of inclusion for your wedding. Your circle of family and friends is important, and the more intimate your event, the more inclusive it can be. Weddings that prioritize their guest count tend to have a more inclusive wedding with intentional details and elements for a unique experience. Furthermore, there is not a right or wrong way to celebrate your love story. Celebrate your love story exactly how you want to do so without the opinions or external input of people outside of your relationship. Do what feels right for you and your partner.
Is there anything about the wedding planning industry that you’d like to see change moving forward? How do you think we can accomplish that change?
Yes, including more couples with disabilities. For the first time last year, I had a disabled couple hire us and it completely changed my perspective about wedding designs and accessibility of events. It was an experience that helped me to advance as a wedding planner in understanding the needs of couples who are planning to wed and have physical limitations or disabilities.

Being able to meet and connect with so many incredible human beings.
Best piece of advice for couples who are about to start planning their wedding and have no idea where to start?
