Nicholas Sparks is at it again. Get ready for tears, forbidden romance, and cute boating scenes. You’re gonna need tissues.

7. Fire Island
The latest adaptation of Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice follows a group of queer best friends on their annual summer vacation to Fire Island.

9. Sylvie’s Love

10. Booksmart
While technically a “pre-summer” film, Olivia Wilde’s directorial breakout movie follows two bookish best friends on their epic night of fun right before their high school graduation as they explore friendship and first loves.
11. In the Heights
This musical-film adaptation follows a magnetic bodega owner as he dreams about a better life.
12. Moonrise Kingdom
Wes Andersen follows 12 year olds Sam and Suzy who plan a romantic escape - only to be chased down by a motley search party determined to find them before a violent summer storm strikes.
13. Dirty Dancing
Who said that family vacations have to be boring? Dirty Dancing needs no introduction and will inspire you to get out of your chair and pull out your special dance moves.
14. Southside With You
Inspired by former president Barack Obama and first lady Michelle Obama, this movie follows their first date in 1989 - we all know how that romance ends!
15. Roman Holiday
